Senior Accountant

Position Overview:

Essential Duties:

• Sets up and maintains general ledger/month-end closing/financial statements including budgets.

• Responsible for preparation of recurring, reclassification, standard and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.

• Prepares analyses of general ledger accounts and reconciles general ledger account balances to supporting schedules and sub-ledger detail.

• Maintains and updates construction in progress.

• Performs financial statement analysis and review and prepares variances to budget and prior periods.

• Prepares bank reconciliations.

• Prepares general excise tax returns on both cash and accrual method.

• Sets up and maintains fixed assets schedules to include additions, retirements, depreciation (book, tax, alternative minimum tax), including journal entries.

• Prepares audit workpapers and assists with quarter, interim and annual audits.

• Assists with special projects as requested.

Communication Demands:

• Internal Contacts: Controller, Sr. V.P. - Finance, department managers, accounting staff, other staff as needed.
• External Contacts: Auditors, vendors, the general public.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:

Math: Strong mathematical skills.

Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in Accounting Preferred.

CPA ormaster's degree in business or related fieldpreferred.

Experience: 5 years related experience. Public accounting, as well as construction and cost accounting experience preferred.

Other: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email; aptitude to learn in-house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.
