HR Generalist

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Partners with HR management to understand and execute the organization's human resources strategies and initiatives particularly as it relates to current and future organizational, business, and operational needs.

  • Assists with establishing and administering policies and procedures with a focus on compliance and consistent application throughout all business units.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR Administration, and employment laws, and assists with ensuring that all related efforts are consistent with compliance requirements and guidelines.

  • Oversees data collection, maintaining and updating employment logs, assisting with the implementation, tracking, and employment reporting.

  • Oversees and manages in partnership with the HR Coordinator, talent acquisition and recruitment through sourcing, attracting, screening, hiring, processing, and onboarding prospective employees and developing recruitment processes and innovative strategies to continuously expand recruitment efforts while ensuring standard operating procedures are aligned with the company's Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Supervises and serves as back up for the HR Coordinator for recruitment and onboarding processes including but not limited to:
    • Processes Position Requisitions and maintains internal and external job postings, including on state job boards and with required external agencies and organizations.
    • Responsible for completing and processing I-9 employment eligibility documentation including E-Verify reporting, pre-employment checks (i.e.: background checks, reference checks, and drug testing.)
    • Inputs and maintains new hire information within HRIS and coordinates both Non-Bargaining Unit and Bargaining Unit hiring/notification, preparation of new hire packets and conducting of onboarding and new hire orientation.
    • Oversees maintenance of employee data throughout the employment life cycle including generating offer letters for Transfers, Promotions, New Hires, and processing approved ETF forms.
    • Performs exit interviews and generates appropriate Termination packets and paperwork for corporate payroll and benefits administration follow-up.
  • Manages the creation, maintenance, and implementation of updated, accurate and comprehensive job descriptions for both Non-Bargaining Unit and Bargaining Unit positions within the company.

  • Maintains knowledge of current State and Federal Employment Laws, and enforces routine compliance to employment and labor policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Conducts periodic internal audits of HR practices and processes to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines. Assists and supports process improvements.

  • Responsible for supporting and assisting with duties and responsibilities in the HR and Benefits Administration disciplines to include benefits administration, leave management, WC claims reporting and management, and internal compliance, audit and reporting.

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education/Experience: Minimum 3 years Human Resources generalist experience, with working knowledge of full-cycle recruitment practices and processes, employee and union relations, and federal and state employment laws. Working knowledge and experience with fully integrated HRIS platform. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Licenses: Valid Driver's license and favorable traffic abstract preferred. PHR or SPHR preferred.

  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of MS Outlook applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, and Email; MS Teams; and the aptitude to learn in-house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.

  • Calculator: 10 key helpful.

  • Math: Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.

  • Reading: Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations.
