HMA Plant Superintendent

POSITION TITLE: HMA Plant Superintendent
DEPARTMENT: Grace Pacific, LLC
LOCATION: O'ahu
REPORTS TO: HMA Plant Manager
STATUS: Exempt, Non-Union

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

1. Manages daily plant operations at the efficiency level set forth by the HMA Plant Manager and coordinates operations with internal and external customers.
2. Coordinates aggregate requirements with all island quarries and optimizes plant inventories to ensure that operational needs are met.
3. Monitors the plants aggregate and asphalt test results and works with QC department on maintaining consistency and quality.
4. Oversees the plants predictive and preventive maintenance program.
5. Ensures that processes are in place to pass all plant inspections. Complies with State and Federal regulations for plant emissions, clean air, dust/noise control and other environmental issues as well as with lease agreements associated with the property occupied by the plant.
6. Assesses training needs and provides appropriate training to ensure that staff involved in asphalt plant operations perform at a level that meets the needs of the operations.
7. Review and correct daily timecards and submit to payroll timely.
8. Promotes awareness of and follows or enforces Company, site, public safety and welfare, public roads and other safety policies.
9. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma Acquired
2. 3-5 years' experience operating or supervising the operation of asphalt plants preferred.
3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
4. Valid Hawaii driver's license and favorable traffic abstract.
5. Must be able to read and understand job specifications, contract documents, technical material, and OSHA/MSHA requirements.
6. Must have a good understanding of basic match and fractions to take accurate measurements, calculate angles, convert volumetrics to allow for ordering materials and parts.
7. Excellent interpersonal/organizational/documentation skills.
8. Able to work independently and meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
9. Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs
