Construction Engineer Intern

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Participates in planning and scheduling process and assists with establishing project schedule.
  • Will be expected to submit, and monitor required contractual documentation such as; incoming/outgoing correspondence, daily reports, weekly progress, drawings, submittals, subcontracts, purchase orders, payment requests and invoices.
  • Assists in reviewing and monitoring the job quantities.
  • Assists with the coordination and scheduling of submittal data in a timely manner. Submittal data may include shop drawings, photos, material certificates, test reports.
  • Assists Project Team with coordinating with relevant public utility companies, in securing necessary permits in advance of work dates.
  • Assists Project Team in carrying out a thorough safety program.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Will be expected to assist in coordinating the closeout process in conformance with operational procedures.
  • Understands both legal requirements and Grace Pacific's policy requirements of our work environment is essential for Construction Engineering to function properly, and as such, the Junior Construction Engineer is required to:
    • Protecting the project, adjacent properties, and endangered species
    • Disposing of waste materials (waste and borrow agreements)
    • Obtaining required permits (i.e. storm water control, demolition etc.) prior to beginning work.
    • Notifying utility Owners
    • Responding to and documenting any environmental incidents
    • Learn, understand and maintain knowledge of current laws, contract requirements and Safety and Health, Environmental and Quality.

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited four-year College or University working towards obtaining bachelor's or master's degree within a relevant field of study.

Licenses: Valid driver's license and favorable traffic abstract.

Skills: Computer: Competency with Word, Excel, Email and aptitude to l learn relevant systems.

Math: aptitude to perform daily tasks.

Reading: ability to read and understand contract documents and plan sets.

Other:

Must have excellent teamwork and communication skills, and also possess the ability to work independently.

Must have strong organizational, problem-solving, time management and decision-making abilities.

Must have strong oral and written communication skills with department staff and management

Capable of being able to perform multiple tasks.
