Position Overview:
Provides unqualified support for and actions to continue a positive Safety culture throughout the organization, by their demonstrated concern and actions for each employee's safety.
Essential Duties:
- Performs site specific safety and health programs for assigned projects and personnel. Ensures EHS awareness is understood prior to the commencement of work activities.
- Assists and performs in developing task specific activity hazard analyses for each major phase of work for assigned project management teams. Document environmental/safety compliance and awareness.
- Conducts and documents weekly and other needed safety meetings, new hire and jobsite orientations; proactively develops and delivers safety presentations.
- Conducts and documents jobsite/facility and corporate safety and health inspections; ensures unsafe and non-compliant conditions are corrected in a timely manner and escalate, if required.
- Develops lesson plans and conducts and/ or coordinates formal and informal safety and health related training; ensures that all safety training requirements are met.
- Assists in management of all corporate safety, health and environmental programs including but not limited to; Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Air Program, Storm Water, Spill Prevention, HAZOPER, and Ergonomics Programs.
- Conduct detailed investigations of work-related near misses, accidents/incidents requiring more than first aid, vehicle accidents & property damage, vehicle & property damage & workers' compensation claims. Develop after action reviews to enable proactive accident/incident prevention. Working with Claim Representatives and responding to wage rate, personnel information and any other requested information required due to the claim.
- Represents the Company during regulatory agency compliance inspections and complaint/ accident/incident investigations and assists with contest against alleged violations.
- Maintains professional certifications and remains predominantly current with all environmental, safety and health regulations.
- Assists with corporate Substance Abuse screening & testing program.
- Maintains environmental, safety and health related records, documentation (including training records).

Working Conditions:
Work Hours: Must be available to work nights, weekends and travel to neighbor islands as needed.
Equipment Use:
- Must be able to effectively use a laptop computer, tablet computer, and smart phone as required.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook; aptitude to learn in-house systems; typing skills to timely complete daily tasks.
- Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
- Ability to work in various environments, climb ladders and lift varying weights.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge:
Reading: Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations.
Licenses: Valid driver's license and favorable traffic abstract.
Education: 2 years of formal education in Safety, Risk Management or Environmental field. Or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Experience: 3-10 years construction environmental, safety and health experience preferred.
Other: Minimum: OSHA 10-hour, Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
Preferred: OSHA 30 Hour, Hazwoper 40 Hour, Competent Person Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STS-C).
